3 Healthy Foods for Kids on the Go

If you’re reading this, you probably have kids, or maybe do a lot of care taking. So, you know how the days can go. Sometimes you get errands done, make it home in time to prepare a healthy lunch, and all is well. Other times, everyone has a diaper blow out at the grocery store, your dentist appointment runs an hour late, and you still have to pick up some essentials at the store. The morning has passed you by and it’s time to eat again, so you look for a quick fix. What do you do?

I’ll be the first to say that I’m guilty of grabbing fast food or just a sandwich and either feeding on the go, or as soon as I get home. To prevent my twins from having melt downs, I try and feed them ASAP. The thing is, when we eat on the go, sometimes it’s hard to squeeze in nutrient dense foods, like fruits and veggies. Luckily, we came across Sprout® premium organic foods (check them out, along with coupons, here!), and my babies absolutely love them! You’ve all seen little pouches of baby food around right? Well, Sprout® was the first company to offer baby food in those convenient little packets! Genius, right?

Speaking of genius, Sprout® heard the demand for baby and toddler foods with whole fruits, vegetables, and grains. Their answer is their new line of plant powered foods that are USDA certified organic and free of artificial ingredients, preservatives, fillers, thickeners, or GMOs! As the leader in plant powered baby and toddler snacks, they’re encouraging a healthy lifestyle and expanding little palates. Not to mention, having sprouts on hand when life gets busy, means less mom guilt for me!

By now, I’m sure you’re curious now as to what your options with Sprout® might be. Check out 3 of their delicious (yup, I tried them too!) products below, and be sure to try some out for your little ones (did I mention coupons here?!).

Sprout® Stage 3 Plant-Based Protein Baby Food Purees

So, the protein in this pouch comes from organic chickpeas, lentils, and beans! This is the first plant-based baby protein in its category, and tastes amazing. Made as an alternative to meat and dairy based products, it’s a great option for vegan or dairy-free lifestyles! We’ve tried the pumpkin, apple, and lentil, which includes 3g of protein and 3g of fiber! Stage 3 purees are recommended for 8 months+, when baby’s palate is getting a little more diverse.

Sprout® Power Pak

Okay, there are 4 varieties of these, but my kids fought over the Kiwi Superblend. If that doesn’t tell you it’s delicious, then I don’t know else to convince you. Made for kids 12 months+, the Power Paks include 3g or protein, 3g of fiber, a FULL serving of fruit, and omega 3 from chia! As the first toddler puree in clear pouch packaging, you can see all the goodness inside. Heck, you might even hear your own stomach growling!

Sprout® Organic Curlz

Parents out there, don’t lie to me. These look like cheesy puffs and you want to eat them. They’re actually the first plant based toddler snack that is powered by organic chickpeas and lentils! Don’t worry, they still have a fun crunchy, curly texture for little hands to enjoy. My twins are actually HUGE fans of feeding themselves, so the Organic Curlz are an easy snack to just place on their snack table, or in containers when we’re out and about. These babies are gluten free, so a great option for toddlers with gluten sensitivities, and once again, are free of artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, concentrates, or sugars. The freshness is actually maintained by the use of organic rosemary!

By now, I hope there is no excuse to not check out Sprout® organic products for your little one. Seriously, the struggle is so real for healthy, yet delicious foods. Sometimes it isn’t even about having a busy day out, but also a busy day in our own homes. The time to cook every single meal, every single day, is not always realistic for all of us. Having a way to squeeze in healthy options with nutrient dense ingredients, full of fruits and veggies can do wonders. Your kids’ bodies will thank you, and so will your conscience!

You can learn even more about Sprout® and see other products and coupons right here. If you’ve tried them before or want to share any information of your own about feeding on the go, feel free to leave a comment!

  1. I like those baby food pouches for littles, but now that my son is a toddler and has a mouth full of teeth, I keep beef jerky in the car. I feel that it’s more nutrient dense than grain-based snacks. Good for mama too!

    • Haha, yeah, no jerky for these guys yet. I probably eat an embarrassing amount myself though!

  2. I am due to have my daughter on July 18th. I can’t wait to make her fresh baby food as she gets a little older, but these seem like an awesome alternative on the go. Thank you for the post.

    • Of course and congrats on the bun in the oven! I’ve made a lot of pouches at home as well, but these are fantastic in a pinch.

  3. Love these! I’ll be babysitting for my nephew quite a bit this summer, and I’m definitely the healthy aunt 🙂 thanks for the tips!

  4. I’m all about convenience and health. When you can pair the two together, it’s wonderful 🙂 These pouches have been lifesavers for my sisters and brothers with their little ones. I imagine I will use them in the future too!

    • Totally right! As much as I enjoy being able to prepare their food, a prepared pouch helps out a lot in time crunches!
